The Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles is a California State Bar approved MCLE provider. The program has been approved for 1 hour General CLE and 1 hour of Legal Ethics CLE credit.

With the legal market remaining unpredictable for attorneys, many lawyers – especially recent law school graduates – are choosing to start their own law firms.  While an exciting endeavor, new solo practitioners must implement critical keys for success and protect themselves from liability.

You will have the chance to listen to and ask those tough questions to a panel of leading practitioners who started their own firms at various points in their careers.  In addition, Al Hernandez, President of Lawyers Pacific Insurance Brokerage, Inc., and formerly the Executive Vice President of one of California's largest professional liability agencies, will weigh in on the discussion from an insurance perspective.

Lastly, you will learn about the common ethical considerations solo practitioners often face – both in terms of avoiding liability (by learning the rules relating to marketing, client management, conflict issues, etc.) and managing liability after it attaches, such as when a complaint is filed against you with the State Bar.

If you are thinking about starting your own practice someday, or want to understand how partners at your firm manage these issues at the highest level, then this is the event for you.  Don’t miss this unique opportunity!
