More Information
Catherine Bidart works in the Opinion Unit of the Attorney General's Office in Los Angeles. Before joining that unit, she worked in the Health, Education and Welfare section, litigating diverse cases but primarily involving petitions for a writ in courts throughout Southern California. Previously, she worked at the California Department of Transportation, litigating state and federal cases including personal injury, eminent domain, and employment. Prior to that, Catherine served as a Deputy Legislative Counsel at the Legislative Counsel Bureau in Sacramento where she drafted numerous bills, legal opinions, and worked extensively on the state budget. She also worked as a staff attorney for the California Law Revision Commission, where she provided in-depth research and analysis on matters that included evidence, bail forfeiture, and trial court restructuring. Her work also entailed numerous public presentations on her recommendations to the Commission and analysis of input from interested persons.

While in law school, she served as an extern to the Honorable Judge Thelton E. Henderson and as a research assistant to Professor (and former California Supreme Court Associate Justice) Joseph R. Grodin. After receiving her master's in law from the University of Cambridge, she worked as a research assistant to then Professor and Chair of the Law Faculty (now sitting on the International Court of Justice at the Hague) His Excellency James Richard Crawford.
