Renée Becnel serves as Outside General Counsel to LightBeam Electric Company, Inc. With over twenty years of professional experience and increasingly higher degrees of responsibility, she most recently served as Assistant General Counsel of Occidental Petroleum Corporation, working with executive management and the Board of Directors on a wide range of matters, including corporate governance, regulatory and compliance matters and transactions. Prior to that, Ms. Becnel was Senior Counsel, responsible for legal matters for Occidental’s midstream subsidiaries that handle marketing and transportation of crude oil, natural gas and power. Prior to joining Occidental, she was Senior Vice President, Legal Counsel and Assistant Secretary of Young & Rubicam Inc., a leading global marketing and communications company, during its recapitalization, public offering and the sale of the company to WPP plc. Ms. Becnel began her career with Morgan Lewis & Bockius LLP in New York as an Associate. In addition to her expertise in corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, securities and energy, she has extensive experience in corporate governance and corporate secretary matters. Ms. Becnel has been active in the Association of Corporate Counsel and the Society of Corporate Secretaries & Governance Professionals. Additionally, Ms. Becnel serves as a Director on the Board of the Armand Hammer Museum of Art and Cultural Center, Inc. in Los Angeles. Ms. Becnel received A.B. (Economics and French) and J.D./LL.M (International Law) degrees from Duke University. She is admitted to practice in the California and New York Bars.
