Potachnik.  Her clients, the limited partners in six real estate partnerships, had filed numerous claims agains the general partner and its affiliated companies including breach of contract, breach fo fiduciary duty, negligence and other charges.  In February, Howrey's team scored an unusual victory for its clients when the court issued an order deeming the plaintiff's allegatiosn true and barring the defendants from contesting anything.  The case was later settled on confidential terms.  Caruso also served last year as lead counsel on a pro bono asylum case that had been making its way through the courts for years and was ultimately dismissed without prejudice.  Current clients include the consumer products giant Proctor & Gamble.  Caruso is bracing herself to handle what she expects will he a heavy volume of false advertising and unfair competition law claims in the coming year.

Pretrial Ritual: Listening to empowering music, or the types of songs one would hear at the end of a sporting event, "such as the NCAA tournament," she said.

Biggest Career Break: Moving from Howrey's Washington, D.C. office to Los Angeles in 1995.
