Navigating the Path Toward Your Dream Law Job
By: Maya Rozov and Honiyeh Sarpand
Most of us go to law school with a vision of what our future as an attorney will look like. The irony is most of us start our legal careers on a different path than what we actually do after law school graduation. We regularly hear women in the legal profession having to work hard to reach a work and life balance, but rarely do we hear about what it takes to get there. Finding a job, any job, often took precedent over finding a job that fulfills our goals and passion. It is not too late or too early to think about what steps you can take to landing your dream law job.
The Young Lawyers Section of WLALA has put together a panel of women who have successfully navigated their legal careers. Join us to hear advice and tools on how to put yourself on the path toward your dream job.
The Young Lawyers Section is excited and honored to have the following panel speaking at this event:
- Amy Brantly (Moderator), Partner at Kesselman Brantly Stockinger,
- Cathy Ostiller, Assistant United States Attorney, Major Frauds Section
- Rosina Hernandez, Senior in-house counsel at Yahoo, Inc.
- Kirsten Galler, Litigation Of Counsel at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP
- Elizabeth Bluestein, Vice President and General Counsel at Public Counsel
The speakers will share their personal experiences and highlight the tools and skills utilized to get them where they wanted to be. There will be discussion on how to network, gain marketable experience, brand yourself, and much more. Every advancement or step forward is an accomplishment towards your dream law job. The panel will provide insight as to what specificities you should pinpoint and use to develop and advance yourself on your career path. There will be a Q&A at the end of the panel so come with your questions ready!
