Recipes for Busy Lawyers

Sangria

Clerico (Argentine sangria)

Two bottles dry white wine (any inexpensive chardonnay)

1/2 cup water

1 cup sugar

1/4 tsp cinnamon

1/2 cup orange liquer (I prefer Citronge made by Patron but Cointreau or generic triple sec works too)

Diced oranges, lemons, limes, and apples

Combine water, sugar, cinnamon in pan.  Bring to a simmer and cook for 5 minutes.  Pour over the sliced fruit while it's hot and then add the Citronge. Refrigerate the marinated fruit for a 2-3 hours.  To serve, combine fruit, wine and ice cubes.  Stir and then top with 1/2 to 1 cup of club soda.

 

Summer Sangria

Two bottles of red wine (any inexpensive South American or Spanish red)

½ cup of Citronge (may substitute Cointreau or triple sec)

Sliced oranges, apples, peaches, nectarines, lemons

Sweeten with sugar taste.

Combine all ingredients in a pitcher and chill 3-4 hours.  Add ice and serve.  Optional: top each glass with a splash of club soda.
