The WLALApalooza silent auction and cocktail party is just around the corner, and we hope you've already marked your calendar and plan to attend with your colleagues and friends. WLALA's largest fundraising event of the year features a silent auction, grand prize drawing, and delectable hors d'oeuvres at the Jonathan Club in downtown Los Angeles.
Never underestimate the power of attending WLALApalooza at the Jonathan Club. For example, the idea of UCLA was conceived over lunch at the Jonathan Club in the fall of 1917. At WLALApalooza, be prepared to experience the Club's excellence and spirit of camaraderie while networking and having a blast penning your bids in the silent auction. Find your next weekend get-away or bring home a gift for your family in the silent auction and raffle - items include spa treatments, wine tours, performances, gym memberships, luxury hotels, great seats at sports events, golf lessons, box seats for a music festival, photography sessions, home food delivery, and gift baskets for pets, foodies, wine-lovers, or youth.
A key part of making WLALA and the WLALA Foundation a success every year is the continuing and generous contribution of supporters at WLALApalooza. We seek firms, companies, and individuals like you to sponsor the event. Sponsorship supports all the meaningful work WLALA does throughout the year and also provides a great opportunity for publicity, exposure, and recognition by the 200 members of the legal community at the event. Sponsors receive ad space and complimentary tickets to WLALApalooza. Please contact Kay Burt about Sponsorship opportunities.
Proceeds from the event support WLALA's operations and further the organization's mission: to promote the full participation of women lawyers and judges in the legal profession, to maintain the integrity of our legal system by advocating principles of fairness and equality, to improve the status of women in our society, including their exercise of equal rights and reproductive choices, and to actively work towards the furtherance of these goals through WLALA's committees, sections and activities.
Proceeds also support the WLALA Foundation's projects, including: (1) the Domestic Violence Project, in which volunteer lawyers provide legal services at the Sojourn Legal Clinic for battered women; (2) scholarships and public interest grants, to provide financial assistance to deserving law students; (3) the History Project, which chronicles the history of female legal trailblazers to ensure that we never forget our profession's history of gender discrimination (4) the Harriet Buhai Center for Family Law, which assists low income individuals with family law matters; and (5) the Downtown Women's Center, a homeless shelter and provider of transitional housing for women on Skid Row.
We look forward to creating memories with you at this event for the remarkable cause - WLALA.
