Award Nominations:

California Women Lawyers (CWL) will be accepting nominations for its four major awards through December 15.  Here is a link to the CWL website page with information about each award:  http://www.cwl.org/About_CWL/Awards.aspx

District Governor responsibilities:

District Governors attend at least six Board meetings per year (typically on a Saturday) at locations throughout the state. They also participate in committees, help plan events, recruit new CWL members, and assist in running the organization. The District 7 Governor would be one of five District Governors representing Los Angeles County on the CWL Board of Governors.

Why should you run:

  • Because CWL's clout and effectiveness grow with every smart, energetic woman who gets involved;
  • Because you will get to know nice, smart, committed women from all over the state;
  • Because it is important that every district have complete representation on the Board of Governors.
  • If you don't serve, who will? Don't sit back and wait for other women to apply. If you are committed to the future of women lawyers in California, send in your application.

Who is eligible to apply:

A District Governor must have her or his principal place of business or residence in the geographical District the Governor represents.  A District Governor’s term is two Board years.  (Each Board year commences on the date of CWL’s Annual Dinner—October 5 in 2017—and ends on the date of the next Annual Dinner.)  A candidate for a District Governor position must be an active member of the State Bar of California, in good standing, or a judge of a court of record in the State of California, and must be a paid member in good standing of CWL.
