At the dinner, WLALA will present awards to the Honorable Diane Wayne (Ret.), Amgen Inc., and Kathleen McDowell.
Hon. Diane Wayne (Ret.)
This year, WLALA will give the Ernestine Stahlhut Award to the Honorable Diane Wayne (Ret.).  WLALA bestows this award on a woman leader who has encouraged women in the legal profession to excel and who exemplifies excellence and dedication to the cause of justice.
Judge Wayne is one of California's most highly regarded neutrals, serving as a mediator, arbitrator, and discovery referee with JAMS.  Since she began her ADR career, Judge Wayne has helped to resolve countless disputes.  She developed complex litigation expertise during her tenure as Supervising Judge of the Writs and Receivers Department, where she heard such diverse matters as preliminary injunctions, challenges to legislative actions, judicial review of complicated land use decisions and trade secret litigation.  She presided over thousands of settlement conferences and trials and helped implement the "Fast Track" system during twenty years of distinguished service on the Los Angeles Superior Court.
Judge Wayne is well respected by her peers and industry leaders alike.  Judge Wayne has been recognized as a Top California Neutral by the Daily Journal, one of the 500 Leading Judges in America by Lawdragon Magazine, and as Trial Judge of the Year.  She was honored with the prestigious Alfred J. McCourtney Award by the Los Angeles Trial Lawyers Association in 1987.  Judge Wayne is a member of the California Judges Association, the California Women Lawyers Association and the Association of Business Trial Lawyers, as well as the Board of Directors of the Los Angeles Women's Foundation.
Judge Wayne has been lauded not only as a fantastic role model, but also as a generous mentor to countless women lawyers.  “Judge Wayne has spent much of her personal time mentoring women both in the legal profession and at JAMS.  She constantly encourages women to not only focus on their careers, but to pay keen attention to all the things that contribute to a full and complete life.  Those include being a great friend, sister, daughter, mother, wife, and mentor.  For Judge Wayne, a woman is at her best when she seeks to be the sum of any of the parts she desires without limitation."  Gina Miller, Vice President, Southwest Region, JAMS.
WLALA is pleased to recognize Judge Wayne for her many years leading the way for women in the Los Angeles legal community.
