The Membership Committee is delighted to announce "A Night at the Magic Castle"
On Wednesday, March 25, 2015, the Membership Committee of the Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles, chaired by Michelle Michaels, Kim Encinas, and Perlette Jura, will host “A Night at the Magic Castle” located at the world famous Magic Castle in the Hollywood Hills.
The Magic Castle is a private, exclusive club for magicians and connoisseurs of magic, and showplace for some of the greatest magicians in the world since its opening in 1963. The Castle itself began its life as a private Victorian home built in 1909 by banker and real estate magnate Rollin B. Lane, who at the time owned much of what is now Hollywood. Through several hardships, the Lane family moved away in the 1940’s and by the 1960’s the fate of the mansion was uncertain until the Larsen family purchased the estate. Milt Larsen was a writer at the time for NBC’s show “Truth or Consequences”. His office was on the 9th floor of a Hollywood office building that overlooked the Lane mansion. Milt’s late father, William W. Larsen Sr., was a renowned magician and had long dreamed of an elegant private club for magicians. The Lane mansion would become that club. The Magic Castle officially opened its doors a little over 50 years ago on January 2, 1963. Today, five decades later, the Castle has become the world-famous “home” to the Academy of Magical Arts, Inc. and their invited guests. On the evening of March 25th, you are invited to be one of those guests.
WLALA members and guests will not want to miss this great night of magic, fun, and laughter at this special private club. The price for this event includes hors d’oeuvres, a no host bar, access throughout the public areas of the Castle for the evening, and admission to magic shows being performed that night. As well, each attendee will be given one Magic Castle guest pass to be used on a future evening of their choice. Please note, because of the limited capacity for this event, early registration is strongly recommended and no registrations will be available past March 17th at 4:00pm. Additionally, all attendees must be over the age of 21 with a picture ID and must comply with the very strictly enforced cocktail attire dress code as explained on the flyer for this event.
WLALA’s “A Night at the Magic Castle” will take place on March 25th between 5:00pm and 12:00am at the Magic Castle in Hollywood located at 7001 Franklin Ave., Hollywood, CA 90028. There will be hosted hors d’oeuvres served between 6:00 and 8:00pm, as well as a no host bar. Valet parking is $13.00. The cost is $95 per person for a WLALA member and $145 for a non-member. Each registered guest is allowed to bring one guest at the same price that they paid.
