When it comes to defending corporate executives, Jeanne Irving has seen the gamut. Irving has worked at the boutique commercial litigation fi rm Hennigan, Bennett & Dorman since its founding in 1995. Most recently, she represented a key in-house lawyer who blew the whistle on stock-option backdating at KB Home and testifi ed for the government in the prosecution of the company’s former CEO. In another case, Irving succeeded on a novel legal issue when she helped a group of real estate investors retain their security interest in a West Los Angeles apartment building after the owner challenged them in court. Irving also defended a group of former directors at a computer resale company who were accused of improperly selling off assets just prior to a bankruptcy. “Having confronted the whole array of legal issues that offi cers and directors of companies face, I’m familiar with how to coordinate a strategy to respond,” Irving explained.

Pretrial Ritual: “Preparation, preparation, preparation.”

Biggest Career Break: “Way back in 2002, I started representing a group of executives, Asia Global Crossing Ltd., and it was a really great opportunity in that there were a dozen pieces of related litigation — securities cases, breach of fiduciary duty claims, bankruptcy clawback actions, etc. — and more than a dozen clients. They were an extraordinary group of people who helped elevate my career.”
