For more than 20 years Ms. Steinhauser has pursued a career of significant achievement in public service. She was appointed to the California Arts Council in 2008 by Senate pro Tem Don Perata and reappointed in 2012 by Senate pro Tem Darryl Steinberg, having been being termed out after 12 years on the Library of California Board. She is President of the Los Angeles County Law Library Board of Trustees (2002-present), having first been appointed in 1997 by Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky. Previously, she served as President and Vice President of the Los Angeles City Fire and Police Pension System Board, having been appointed by former Mayor Tom Bradley in 1991. In addition, Ms. Steinhauser serves on a number of art related boards including the Hammer Museum Board of Overseers and continues to be involved in public policy as a Sustaining Advisor to the Public Policy Council with the Junior League of Los Angeles.
Ms. Steinhauser is a summa cum laude graduate of UCLA and received her law degree from Loyola Law School. For more than twelve years she practiced law, both in Sacramento with the State Legislative Counsel Bureau and in Los Angeles with Southern California Edison Company, specializing in alternate and renewable energy. She is a life member of WLALA and the Founding Chair of their Annual Giving Committee.
