by Jessica Kronstadt
On April 17, 2018, Judge Helen I. Bendix - my Superwoman mom - was confirmed as an Associate Justice of the California Court of Appeal. The Commission on Judicial Appointments panel that approved her appointment was compromised of Chief Justice Tani Cantil-Sakauye, Attorney General Xavier Becerra, and Senior Presiding Justice Arthur Gilbert of the Second District of the California Court of Appeal. Presiding Judge Daniel J. Buckley of the Los Angeles Superior Court, Michele B. Corash, Esq., Associate Justice Laurence D. Rubin of the California Court of Appeal and United States District Judge John Kronstadt spoke on Justice Bendix' behalf.
Justice Bendix was appointed to the bench in 1997 by former Governor Pete Wilson. Prior to joining the Court of Appeal, she was in charge of the Mandatory Settlement Conference program of the Los Angeles Superior Court. She is a concert violinist and violist, a marathon runner, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
Jessica Kronstadt is WLALA Secretary.
